The hardest thing about finding information for me is finding credible information on the internet. Another thing is when I am doing research I am tempted to just google everything and the first site that usually always comes up is Wikipedia. Since Wikipedia is not really a trusted and credible site, it is hard not to use it as a reference. Wikipedia can be accessed by anyone and any person can change and edit the website. When a topic isn't given and you are supposed to choose a topic on your own, I also find that difficult. It can be tough not knowing or having a clue where to start. Other than that, I find everything else pretty easy. Doing research can be fun, especially if you have an interesting topic because you are finding more information about it and learning new things that you may have not know before.
This library research course didn't help me significantly but it did help me learn more about plagiarism. Plagiarism is a very serious deal in college and I had the opportunity to learn different ways on avoiding plagiarism. When I go to college I will be able to look back and be glad I had the chance to learn about correctly citing my sources and the right way to use quotation marks and paranthesis. I enjoyed the library research class but it would have been more fun and interesting if we had more assignments or group work.

"Since everything is on the internet..."
The statement, "since everything is on the internet, I don't need books....right?" is false. Not all information is on the internet and books have many important facts, details and information that cannot be found on the internet. Many people rely on the internet for research and finding information, I think this is a way of laziness and not wanting to check out books. Libraries provide computer access as well as books and you have a choice on where you want to get your information. Websites like Google, Bing and ask.com are making people lazy. They want the satisfaction of easy access answers to all of their questions, instead of taking the time to read a book and actually learn something.
Also, not everything on the internet is true information. There are plenty of websites that advertise false information just for the heck of it. Credibility can be limited, especially if the author of the website is unknown. At least with a book you can always find the author or publisher.

I think this quote is also ignorant. Books are very important to our way of life and the way we learn. If everyone ends up relying on the internet this could end up bad for our society. I believe that technology advances the human race but it’s not always a good thing when it comes to education. We have libraries for a reason, and before there were ever computers, all we had were books. Books will always overrule the internet.

Librarians are AWESOME! :)
I think librarians are an important component to a library. Most people look over their jobs but not many people realize how important they really are. They help with all of the office work that needs to be done, such as filing, faxing and printing. Librarians are known for helping with books. They are needed for help finding certain books or introducing new ones. When you walk into a library, the first thing you see is how neatly sorted the books, magazines, movies and audio cd's are.I always like to think that librarians are nice enough to continue to organize everything the library has to keep people coming back. Not only do librarians just work around the library, they help people learn. Librarians are always sharing important knowledge with others about current events, research or things they know about writing and reading.
I think it would be really cool if librarians had a teleportal mind that could pull books straight from the shelf and automatically know the whole book front to back. They would have their own library in their minds.
Since technology is expanding so much these days, I think libraries are going to have a limited amount of librarians because of internet access. It's sad that people no longer want to research manually, we are more likely to rely on computers to do all of our work and research. Maybe one hundred years from now, instead of having paper and hard back books, all books will be on e-readers.

When I go to college, I hope to study International Business or because I like the business scene and I also love to travel. I am also interested in human resource management because I find office work extremely fun and I’m very organized. I would like to run meetings and conduct business with large companies around the world. I plan on going to Hawaii Pacific University or SDSU (San Diego State University). I want to have a minor in something that relates to travel or learning other languages. Since I already know Spanish, it would be to my advantage to learn French or Italian. I want to study abroad my junior year to countries like Germany, Italy, France, Costa Rica and Japan. I entered this program with the dream of becoming a psychologist or a pediatrician. I learned about pharmacy and nursing and thought about having those as a career as well but I soon realized I didn’t have a passion for it. Over the past couple of years, that dream has changed. I no longer want to study anything in the medical field. So far the pre-collegiate program is helping me expand my knowledge. And I am also benefiting because of the three English credits I will receive at the end of the five week program. Since I am no longer interested in the medical field, it's not helping as much as I would like. I have never taken Calculus so I am always learning something new in math class every day.
